Resistance to weathering

Understanding the effect of weathering on an outdoor product is key in the UK’s variable climate.

The British Standard weathering test is one of the strictest in Europe, with 2 ½ times more UV exposure than some other European number plate test schedules.

How are plates tested?

Plates are exposed to 2,275 hours of UV testing.

What makes a fail:

  • Cracking
  • Scaling
  • Pitting
  • Blistering
  • Delamination
  • Blooming
  • Corrosion
  • Chalking
  • Faded plates
  • Shrinkage of background material
  • Loss of colour
  • Loss of retroreflection
