The 9 old tests of number plates: BS AU 145d
BNMA members only supply plates that meet the British Standard.
Please note that the new British Standard BS AU 145e is now mandatory. These tests are still relevant because BS AU 145e is an enhancement of this, adding 2 new tests.
Testing ensures that the strict British Standard (now BS AU 145e, previously BS AU 145d) for number plates is met.
Each test has a separate and distinct purpose. From ensuring the right durability to making it legible, every construction of number plate supplied to Registered Number Plate Suppliers must pass the British Standard.
There are 42 unique reasons why a plate could fail the British Standard.
Any given sample can go through up to 5 tests on the same plate, in a specified order.
